Maxi Cosi I Size

What Is iSize?

One of the most asked questions on the shop floor when parents are looking at potential new systems are – what is iSize? Chances are you’ve heard of it, and more likely its wooosh gone over your head because of the jargon!

Its really not all that complicated, and if you are visiting us instore our team would be more than happy to talk through it with you!

Not all car seats and bases fit in all cars and iSize looks to change that.  If your car is iSize ready then the iSize systems will fit.  There are very few iSize cars on the market at the moment, but more getting made.

Contrary to myths…isofix is NOT a legal requirement. Though it does make life easier (less faff) and its safer – there is less room for human error.

To pass the R129 standard, car seats must undergo and pass a side impact crash test (this is not a requirement in the R44).  So again, adding to the safety.

Baby MUST rearward face until 15 months as a minimum (previous was 9 months) – there is a focus on this, as rearward facing is the safest position for baby in the car.

Isize also focuses on height rather than weight – so its easier to know when to move.

None of this means that if you have an R44 car seat that you need to bin it and buy a new iSize, its still running though is being phased out.

Instore we offer both R44 and Isize car seats, ultimately the decision is yours what you choose to go for. Most car seats are compatible with most prams and we are always on hand for info and advice!
